People are sometimes surprised there is a cost for sewage (wastewater) removal. After all, drinking water is treated so it’s safe to drink. While wastewater is, well… sewage.
Water treatment is a lot like a toll bridge; it cost money no matter which way you’re going. Actually treating wastewater, so it is safe to be returned to the environment, can cost as much or more than providing drinking water. Both services are provided, 365 days a year, require certified operators, and must meet the EPA and Colorado Department of Health and Environment’s stringent regulations. So, that’s why every residential customer pays both a water and sewer charge on their monthly water bill.
Residential Wastewater Rates (Effective May 1, 2015)
